The slopeside hotel at Main Lodge
Mammoth Mountain Inn has stood across from Main Lodge since 1959, at around 9,000 feet on Mammoth Mountain, about four miles up Minaret Road from the town of Mammoth Lakes. Its 216 units are spread across three buildings of three floors each, steps from the ski school, the Panorama Gondola and several chairlifts, with views straight onto the mountain. In the ski season, normally mid-November through May and conditions permitting, the Inn is ski-in, ski-out. In summer it becomes a base for the upper mountain and the Mammoth Adventure Center, and for the Devils Postpile and Rainbow Falls area beyond. Accommodation ranges from studio hotel rooms to one-, two- and three-bedroom hotel rooms, including the Pinnacle Suite, which has three separate bedrooms and sleeps up to eight. Following recent renovations, not all rooms have balconies, and rooms are not air-conditioned. Mountainside Bar & Grill is upstairs from the lobby, and the Sierra General Store in the lobby serves coffee and quick bites; the Yodler Restaurant & Bar is across the road. A heated outdoor pool, four hot tubs, a 24-hour fitness room, a game room and a fireplace in the lobby round out the Inn, which is pet-friendly and smoke-free.
Luxio Perspective
Mammoth Mountain Inn trades town-centre convenience for position: wake up across from Main Lodge, walk to the lifts in winter, and in summer start the day on the mountain rather than driving up to it.
