Zion Canyon and the park's east-side approach

Begin at Zion Canyon Visitor Center for current access information, then experience the main canyon using the park shuttle whenever it is operating. The Zion–Mt. Carmel Highway remains a separate road across the park's east side, where Checkerboard Mesa and Canyon Overlook can be considered as optional stops. This is a self-directed, flexible park day rather than a fixed tour, and every visit should be planned around current National Park Service road, shuttle, parking, weather and trail conditions.
