Overview

A 1922 bank reimagined as a Downtown LA hotel

Hotel Per La occupies the Giannini Building, completed in 1922 at the corner of 7th and Olive as the headquarters of the Bank of Italy. Its name, Italian for "for the", nods to founder Amadeo Pietro Giannini's idea of a bank for the people. The building's Neoclassical character survives in its Doric columns, ornate gilded ceiling and marble floors, now paired with playful contemporary design across 12 storeys. The hotel's 241 rooms and suites take their palette from the restored gold-and-blue Italianate ceiling, with custom furnishings, curated original artwork and, in selected rooms, private garden patios, courtyard views and freestanding tubs. Suites rise to the Amadeo Presidential Suite, the largest and most elaborate accommodation. Three hotel-run venues anchor the stay: Ristorante Per L'Ora for coastal Italian cooking, Café Ora for coffee, pastries and gelato, and Bar Clara beside the heated rooftop pool, with shaded cabanas and skyline views. A 24-hour fitness center, in-room dining and around 10,000 square feet of event space complete the hotel, and the 7th Street/Metro Center station is about half a mile away.

Luxio Perspective

Hotel Per La turns one of Downtown LA's grandest bank buildings into a warm, sociable hotel: gilded ceilings below, a rooftop pool and bar above, and the Historic Core on the doorstep.
